Indiana Legislative and Child Custody Policy Advisor
Since 2008 Mr Showalter has been the primary lobbyist for the Indiana Custodial Rights Advocates. He has met nearly every legislator in the Indiana General Assembly and has a good personal relationship with some.
Mr Showalter writes and has had introduced various pieces of child custody related legislation. His testimony or consultation has provided valuable insight into pending child custody legislation. In 2010 he was instrumental in obtaining unanimous support for a modification to the Indiana Paternity Affidavit that now allows parents to select joint legal custody and establishes parenting time rights for the father. Both are effective upon signing and have eliminated the need to go to court which has been a barrier to the immediate bonding the child needs with his or her father.
In 2011 Mr Showalter continues to write and get child custody related legislation introduced. Additionally, he acts as a child custody policy advisor. He is currently providing input to the Domestic Relations Committee of the Indiana Judicial Center as a volunteer advisor as the Committee works on proposed amendments to the Indiana Parenting Time Guidelines.
If you need a guide through the legislative process or a representative to write, introduce or testify in support of your legislation or opposition to other legislation then please contact his scheduler to make an appointment. Mr Showalter will only represent causes with which he has no moral conflict and are general related to child welfare. For this reason you will find his advocacy to be sincere and his requested compensation to be about the lowest of any compensated lobbyist.
